An intense second day at the “Open Castilla y León – Villa de El Espinar 2018” with the end of the first round on men’s and women’s draws, it went on different ways on both draws.
First seed on IV ITF women tournament, Paula Badosa, started her title.
She reached a great win against Spaniard-German Irina Cantos Siemers -(“For the first day, I did not feel bad, I want more”, declaró)- and goes through second round where she will face Olga Parrés.
On the opposite side, the men’s draw lost it’s first need, Ukranian who lost against Italian Matteo Viola 6-3, 2-y 7-6 (5) with a controversial end of the match: Ukranian player thought that his defeat was due to two balls marked out by the chair umpire and having several wailings, left the court.
Earlier, second seed Adrián Menéndez Maceiras, had reached second round after a win against Frenchman and first seed on qualifying draw, 6-4 y 6-2. On both sets he makes the first breaks, playing an effective and secure game.
“A player from the qualifying draw has always more hours on the court but I made not many mistakes”, the Spaniard said.

First Spanish win was for Andrés Artuñedo. Playong with a wild card, his match was not easy against fifth seed, Dutchman Scott Griekspoor and 161 places above him at the ATP Rankings.
Castellon player started below on the scoreboard but improved his level and on the important points, player better with the hot on Court 1 and the altitude conditions. The score, 3-6, 6-1 7-6.
At Casino de la Unión, Badosa and Olga Sáez reached second round.
Saez, after beat 6-1 y 6-1 Finland Eklund, from the qualifying.
Cristina Bucsa, one promise from Spanish tennis went through second round after beating Frenchwoman Manon Arcangioli, whl was forced to retire due to an injury with 6-1 y 4-1 for Cristina.
There where some controversial at the IV Internacional Women’s tournament because the tournament ITF supervisor disqualified Frenchwoman Paquet due to a lack of respect with the chair umpire on her match against Eva Guerrero. Score was level one set all.
Other players than went though the tournament are Paraguayan and Fed Cup player Montserrat González and turkishwoman Basak Eyradin.
On the loses side there are names as Alejandro Davidovich who could not win on a difficult debut against Luca Vanni, 2016 tournament single champion and 178 places above him at the ATP Rankings. At the beginning he could suffer the difficulties of a debut in Segovia, with some wrong. Later he played a good tennis and on the final set he had a break, but Italian experience was decisive to take the victory 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
